SIKESTON - J.W. Staggs, 63, died at 10:25 a.m. June 22, 2003, at his home.
Born March 11, 1940, in Collinwood, Tenn., son of the late Wilson and Mary Lou Fraley Staggs, he was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and was a veteran of the National Guard. Staggs had worked for Anchor Toys and Sears Delivery and Fencing before becoming a truck driver. He had been employed by Reliable Freight, Atlas Carriers, M&M Farm Lines and Emcal Trucking.
On March 24, 1990, in Charleston, he married Brenda J. Rapert who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons and one daughter-in-law, Jerry Wayne Staggs of Fort Smith, Ark., Jeff and Lori Robey of Dover, Ark., and Shawn Staggs of Sikeston; one daughter, Tina Mills of Little Rock, Ark.; three brothers, Tommy Staggs, Willie Staggs and Danny Staggs of Sikeston; one sister, Marilyn Graham of Sikeston; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Jennifer Rapert of the home, whom he raised.
Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Lemons, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Mike Britton, Mike Richards, Glen Parks, Roger Ross, Larry Tucker and Jim Hovis.
Blanchard Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
