Roy Booker
Portageville native has signed with team in The Netherlands

Cape Girardeau -- Two former Southeast Missouri State University basketball players are playing with European professional teams.

Roy Booker, who played at Southeast in 2005-2006, recently signed with Aris Friesland in The Netherlands while William "Bud" Eley who played at Southeast from 1995-1999, is continuing his professional career with Grupo Capitol in Spain. Eley has been playing in Europe since 1999.

Booker, originally from Portageville, played in Turkey last season, averaging 10 points and three rebounds per game. He also spent time in the Dominican Republic where he averaged 13 points and five rebounds per game. The regular season in Holland will begin Oct. 6. In preseason games, Booker is averaging 21 points and four rebounds per game for the first division team.

Booker led the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring, averaging 22 points per game during the 2005-06 season. Eley is the leading career rebounder in Southeast history and ranks as the fourth leading scorer. He had 1,686 points and 995 rebounds during his Southeast career.
