NEW MADRID - Anna Louise Devers Mills, 86, died June 21, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born May 19, 1917, in New Madrid, daughter of the late James and Carrie Sloas Devers, she was a past worthy matron of the New Madrid Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she had been presented a 50-year pin. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church in New Madrid and had also received a 50-year membership pin from the church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women and the quilter's guild.
Her husband, Elihu Mills, preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1994.
Survivors include: one son, James "Jim" Mills of New Madrid; one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia "Cindy" and Terry Alan Hadder of New Madrid; one granddaughter, Kristi Hadder of New Madrid; one nephew, Ralph Barnwell of New Madrid; one niece, Anna Louise Barnwell of New Madrid; and three great-nieces, Carrie Ann Romines of Pontotoc, Miss., Jamie Lynn Barnwell of New Madrid and Elizabeth Harrell of New Madrid.
Services were conducted at 11 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church in New Madrid. The Rev. Paul Lathum, former pastor, and the Rev. Lynn Quist, pastor, officiated.
Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery.
