EAST PRAIRIE - Florene K. Ferrell, 80, died at 7:15 p.m. June 23, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Jan. 18, 1923, in Diehlstadt, daughter of the late Luther and Lula Kirkpatrick Windsor, she lived in Scott and Mississippi counties her entire life and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in East Prairie. She and her husband owned and operated Ferrell's Supermarket in East Prairie for many years.
On Oct. 13, 1940, she married Tom Ferrell who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Olivia Ferrell of Springfield, Dennis and Ann Ferrell of Paducah, Ky., and Randy and Connie Ferrell of East Prairie; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Danny Smithson of East Prairie, Sharon and David Moore of St. Louis and Connie and El Wilman of St. James; and 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
One grandson, five brothers and five sisters preceded her in death.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Wednesday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Full Gospel Church in East Prairie. The Rev. Mike Johnson, pastor of the Full Gospel Church and the Rev. Richard Dement, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church of East Prairie, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Chris Ferrell, Jonothan Ferrell, Bill Ferrell, Joey Smithson, Jason Cooper and Scott Vowels.
Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters: Rachel, Melissa, Nicole, Jena, Vanessa, Erica, Jessica and Bethany.
