Dement wins bass tournament

KENTUCKY?LAKE, Ky. -- The Bootheel BassBusters held their eighth tournament of the year on Sept. 23 with a weigh-in at Kenlake Marina on Kentucky Lake.

Jerry Dement won his second consecutive tournament with two bass weighing 8 pounds, 5 ounces, including the Big Bass of the tournament, a 6 pound, 1 ounce heavyweight. Leven Cox was second with two bass weighing 4 pounds, 8 ounces, and Jim Bonner was third with two bass weighing 4 pounds, 5 ounces. Jimmy Davis won the "Lucky Drawing."

The fish were in a transition period from summer to fall and keepers were hard to locate for the majority of the club.

Leven Cox leads in the Angler of the Year race with 1,316 points. Mitch Allen is second with 1,199 points and Leon Miller is third with 1,173 points.

The club travels to Wheeler Lake in Alabama for their ninth and final tournament of the year, a two-day event, on October 12th and 13th.
