NEW HAMBURG -- Rose Anna Kern, 91, died at 4:15 p.m. June 22, 2003, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.
Born July 16, 1911, in New Hamburg, daughter of the late Joseph and Sophia Gosche Westrich, she was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg and Ladies Sodality. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens of New Hamburg.
On Sept. 6, 1932, in New Hamburg, she married Aloysius Kern who preceded her in death on June 7, 1960.
Survivors include: four sons, Elmer "Cotton" Kern, Robert "Duke" Kern, Aloysius "Otto" Kern Jr. and Donnie Kern of New Hamburg; four daughters, Georgie Bennett, Barb Kern, Charlene Steger and Carol Klipfel of New Hamburg; one sister, Anna Glastetter of New Hamburg; and 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild.
One daughter, five brothers and four sisters also preceded her in death.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton, where parish prayers at 6:30 p.m. will be followed with a Knights of Columbus service.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Elmer "Cotton" Kern, Robert "Duke" Kern, Aloysius "Otto" Kern Jr., Donnie Kern, Floyd Klipfel and Shelby "Skip" Steger.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.
