Born Aug. 18, 1927, in Catron, Mo., daughter of the late Christopher Columbus and Inez Thelma Bratcher Thurston, she had worked for Tyson Foods for several years. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Green Forest.
On Aug. 7, 1980, she married Elmer S. Avery who preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Carol Williamson of Ellington, Mo.; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Christine and Fay Poyner, Lorene and Jesse James and Pam and Mike Poyner of Green Forest, Sherry Martin of Fort Worth, Texas, and Candace Sawatzky of South Carolina; two sisters, Shelby Lindsey of Berryville and Opal Starkey of Harrison; and 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were three brothers, James Thurston, Robert Thurston and Cletus Thurston; and one granddaughter, Kelly Williamson.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Assembly of God Church in Green Forest. The Revs. Jim Bales and Jerry Scitern will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery.
Nelson Funeral Service of Berryville is in charge of arrangements.
