With all the rain daily, why do people with their windshield wipers on not have their lights turned on? Is it a law or isn't it? Safety, folks. You make it hard to see when some around you do have their lights on.

Congratulations to Missouri Department of Transportation. They are cleaning out highway ditches around Charleston and using an excavator that has a laser receiver on it. They are actually using a laser level to keep all the ditches at the right elevation. Now, that's thinking ahead and I appreciate it. Thank you for doing a good job.

I'm calling to say thank you to Mike for his input to the person who called in complaining about me out raking leaves in front of Wendell Apartments. That's my job. I enjoyed it. If you have a problem with it, please stop and ask me about it. I'd be glad to let you help.

An apology is in order. About a couple of months ago I put in SpeakOut that it was a shame about the electoral college, that as Americans the majority of us could not pick our president. Then someone wrote in we didn't have a democracy, we had a republic. Well, they are right, we do have a republic. All you have to do is pledge allegiance - I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. And to the republic for which it stands. I was wrong. Once I found out I was wrong, I got on the computer and started to find out a few other things about our government. One thing I found out that was shocking to me was that our federal reserve is not a government institution. It is owned by a group of private business people who are very wealthy. If our people in this country don't watch out, we're going to be in a world of trouble with this national debt that we're building up. All this interest that we are building up is being paid to these people. All your income tax goes to pay the interest on that loan that we've made to these group of people. The people of the United States had better look out because bad times are coming if they don't stand up and get involved in their government. The government is for the people, the people are not for the government. The government is to serve the people, we are not supposed to serve the government. People had better start standing up for their rights or we ain't going to have any. I appreciate being able to speak out and more people better or we're in a world of trouble.

What is Oprah Winfrey trying to prove? I don't think she will help Obama. I don't watch her show ever and I sure wouldn't vote for Obama. What is she trying to do, be his vice president? Ha, ha, ha!

This is in reference to Your View on Dec. 10 on good eating. Being newcomers to town, we would really like to know where this lady went to to have good fish and fried chicken. We would appreciate it if you would put it in the SpeakOut column.

They put a really high rating on a restaurant in Matthews, just out of Sikeston, but they didn't tell the name of it. If you know the name, please put it in SpeakOut.

It amazes me how the U.S. Postal Service can keep track of and deliver a small piece of junk mail, but will lose a 14-square-inch package. To assure delivery you must pay extra for a job you pay for at regular postal costs.
