SIKESTON -- Charges were filed against two Sikeston men accused of robbing a convenience store earlier this week in Sikeston. Authorities say a third suspect is being sought.

Anthony Tobias, 18, and Martell S. King, 18, were both charged Monday with armed robbery and armed criminal action for their involvement with a robbery at Murray Lane Mini Mart, according to Sikeston Department of Public Safety.

The robbery occurred around 7 p.m. Sunday at the Mini Mart, located at 626 W. Murray Lane, when one of the men allegedly entered the business with a sawed-

off shotgun. Money was taken from an employee who was held at gunpoint. The two subjects were later apprehended due to a Sikeston officer who noticed the men fleeing in a vehicle after the robbery.

Bond is set at $100,000 each. Tobias and King are scheduled to be arraigned in Scott County Associate Circuit Court.

Sgt. Jim McMillen, public information officer for Sikeston DPS, said robberies, thefts and other types of fraud seem to become more frequent around this time of year.

"As Christmas draws near, money will often become an issue and sometime this will lead people to criminal activity," McMillen said.

In this robbery, an observant officer took note of suspicious activity and this led to the speedy arrests, McMillen said.

"We ask if you see anything suspicious, or if you believe you are witnessing a crime, to please call our department," McMillen said. "All tips can remain anonymous. Your tip can be the difference in making an arrest or having an unsolved case."
