Sikeston JV and freshmen win

CAPE GIRARDEAU--The Sikeston Bulldogs junior varsity basketball team advanced to the semi-finals in the Notre Dame Invitational, by winning Monday night against the Poplar Bluff Mules by a score of 47-38.

The Bulldogs were led by Corey Porter, who had 19 points and eight rebounds, and Niquavious Dixon, who had 11 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals.

Will Holifield chipped in seven points, including a three-pointer in the win.

Sikeston had 17 field goals in the victory, and was 12-for-21 at the free throw line. The Bulldogs had 15 fouls.

Poplar Bluff was led by Jake White, who had nine points, and Shakeal Dudley who added eight points in the loss.

The Mules were 4-for-6 at the line, and had 17 fouls.

Sikeston advances to Wednesday night's quarterfinals, where they will face the winner of Blytheville and Cape Central's junior varsity squads.

In ninth-grade basketball, the Sikeston Bulldogs freshmen took the victory over Cape Central Tigers 52-25.

Sikeston's Darryl Howard had 17 points and Michael Sherrod added nine in the win.
