SIKESTON - Sikeston's Bulldogs with superior power and weight downed the Charleston High School Blue Jays last Thursday afternoon 26 to 6 at the annual Thanksgiving Day football game played on the local field.

SIKESTON - Based on the building permits issued by John Vaughn, city clerk, the value of construction for which permits were obtained in November went up to $172,550 with residence work dominating.

SIKESTON - Glenda Morrison won $10,000 in the Connection Lottery's Joker's Wild instant game The 56-year-old Mrs. Morrison said she "jumped for joy" after finding out she'd won. The winner was in Connecticut for two weeks visiting her sister. She said she plans to buy a new car or fix up her house. She received a check for $8,000 from the lottery headquarters in Newington, Conn. The other $2,000 was deducted for federal income tax. She and her husband have three grandchildren and seven grandchildren.

SIKESTON - After helplessly watching the Notre Dame Bulldogs begin with a 15-2 run at Cape Girardeau, the Sikeston Bulldogs battled back to remain undefeated with a 65-63 win Monday night. By the results of Sikeston's first two games, the Sikeston Invitational Tournament is wide open.

SIKESTON - Adrian Clayton, 9, and Dara Jo Wheetley, 3, headed into the Malco Theater after dropping off their donations for the Standard Democrat Community Christmas Campaign. Children bringing canned goods were treated to a free movie for their good deed.
