SIKESTON - A large delegation of loyal rooters journeyed to Jackson to see a fighting outweighed Sikeston High School Bulldog team push an experienced, highly touted Jackson 11 around the football field for two hours, but falling in the pitches and thereby giving the Indians a 0 to 0 score in the final score column.

SIKESTON - Glenn Greene, circulation manager of The Daily Standard, was elected president of the Missouri Daily Circulation Managers Association at the annual meeting held at Columbia Saturday and Sunday. About 30 circulation managers and their wives attended the meeting. Greene has been circulation manager for The Daily Standard for the past four years.

SIKESTON - The Folklores, Sikeston singing group, have been notified that they have been selected to appear on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour.

SIKESTON - Brittany Paige McDonald was crowned Junior Miss Community Days recently in Bell City. McDonald is the 13-year-old daughter of Duke and Pat McDonald. Her court included: Amy McBride, first alternate, 13-year-old daughter of Barry and Susie McBride of Vanduser; and Kelly Bridger, second alternate, 12-year-old daughter of Rodney and Angela Bridger of Sikeston.

MATTHEWS - The Big Prairie Jaycees will host the Main Street Barbecue Saturday. Barbecue sandwiches will be available al day as well as whole butts, ribs, pork chops and chicken.
