Richland rallies in second half to beat Camels

CAMPBELL -- The Richland Rebels used a strong second half to defeat the Campbell Camels Tuesday night, 81-62.

Richland trailed 36-34 at the half but outscored the Camels 23-4 in the third quarter to put the game away.

"This was a good win for us," said Richland coach Casey Knight. "We had a week off since our last game and we came out a little sluggish but we woke up in the second half."

Richland (2-0) was led in scoring by Drew Thornton's 28. Mikey Latham finished with 23, including five 3-pointers.

"I'm proud of our team," Knight said. "We have a bunch of people contributing."

Richland will travel to Bloomfield Friday night to take on the Wildcats.

BELL CITY -- Bell City led by just seven at halftime, but used a 32-4 third-

quarter edge to remain perfect.

Nick Niemczyk poured in 37 points for the Cubs (6-0), who got 28 points from Phillip Gross.

CHAFFEE -- Andy Hendrix led the Red Devils (2-0) with 22 points as Chaffee defeated East Prairie 66-54.

The Eagles were led in scoring by Ryan Jones' 15.

Chaffee won the junior varsity game 65-49.
