DEXTER - Charley "Pete" Pyle, 81, died Sept. 17, 2007, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
Born Dec. 3, 1925, in Malden, to the late Charlie E. and Mae Banks Pyle, he was a retired farmer for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II, and a member of the Bernie Church of Christ and the Masonic Lodge No. 532 in Dexter.
On Jan. 2, 1946, at Malden, he married Geraldine L. Cooper, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Junior R. Pyle and Michael D. Pyle of Dexter; two daughters, Etta Jean Ross and Karen Forkum of Dexter; one brother, Floyd Pyle of Troy; six sisters, Mary Wormington and Jane Mahan of St. Louis, Ruth Rogers of Malden, Faye McCormick and Florene Lee of Bernie and Alene Moore of Jonesboro, Ark.; and eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Chalmer Pyle and Noah "Mac" Pyle; and one sister, Lorene Penick.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday. Stan Dauck and the Rev. Floyd Pyle will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter.
