SIKESTON - Adding a professional touch with a last minute field goal by Mickey Thomas, the Sikeston B Team last Friday night defeated Hayti 9 to 6 in a football game played in the mud on the local field.

SIKESTON - Twenty-five school students will complete a special training session tomorrow to prepare them to work for merchants during the Christmas rush, David Miller, cooperative occupational education teacher, said today.


SIKESTON - The annual Thanksgiving Service, sponsored by the Sikeston Ministerial Alliance will be held at the First Baptist Church. Members of all faiths are invited to attend. The rev. John Rhame, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene, will speak.

Business Service Award at the Framer's Recognition Banquet, conducted Thursday night, was Jack Carson of Sikeston. Honored with the Sikeston Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmer Award was Edward Dement of Sikeston.


PORTAGEVILLE - Area residents are invited by Portageville merchants to view their many Christmas offerings during the fifth annual Holiday Open House, scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Refreshments or prizes will be offered by some of the businesses.

SIKESTON - Surprised, pleased and speechless at times, Cindy Faulkner of LaForge accepted her award as Farm Woman of the Year from Mike Marshall. It is the first time in the 27-year history of the Farmers Recognition Banquet such an award was presented. Three special awards went to Jim Hastings, Agri-Business Service Award; and Outstanding Young Farmers, Von and Marty Priggel.
