CLARKTON - Reginald Palford "R.P." Bailey, 81, died May 16, 2004, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born Oct. 1 1922, in Clarkton, son of the late Virgil Palford "V.P." and Junia Byrd Bailey, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. A member of Four Mile Masonic Lodge 212 AF&AM, he was a member and deacon of the First Southern Baptist Church in Clarkton.
On Dec. 25, 1945, in Campbell, he married Freida L. Key who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters and one son-in-law, Carolyn and Dow Croom and Polly Orr of Clarkton; four grandchildren and spouses, Kimberly Anne and Joe Heckemeyer of Sikeston, Sarah Croom of Vail, Colo., Dr. Reginald Ashley Orr of Atlanta and Leanna and Doug Hinerman of Orlando, Fla.; and four great-grandchildren, Caroline Heckemeyer , Catherine Heckemeyer, Jay Hinerman and Calvin Hinerman.
Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Landess Funeral Home in Malden, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Ladell Bailey and Dr. Reginald Ashley Orr will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton.
