MORLEY - Vernon Euman Phillips, 81, died at 2:20 a.m. Dec. 27, 2007, at his home due to complications related to Alzheimers disease.
Born Jan. 14, 1926, near Lamar, Ark., to the late Lee A. and Sylvia Noe Phillips, his family moved to Missouri in 1938, and he attended Randles School. He was a member of Morley Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and deacon. He was a member of the Morley Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and a KFVS-12 weather watcher for many years. He retired from Texas Eastern Pipeline Company at Oran after 37 years of employment.
On July 5, 1947, at Morley, he married Mary Ann Smith, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn Ann and James Blevins of Chaffee; one son and daughter-in-law, Delbert Earl and Sondra Phillips of Scott City; one brother, Verlon Phillips of Dexter; one sister, Retta Izola Luttrell of Cordova, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Tom Blevins, Sarah Blevins, Phillip Blevins, Hollie Riley and Heather Scott; and two great-
He was preceded in death by one son, James David Phillips; five brothers, Vernie Phillips, Velmer Phillips, Vance Phillips, Vick Phillips and Vester Phillips; and one sister, Ida Arzella Newell.
Visitation is after 4 p.m. today, with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m., at the Amick-
Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Morley Baptist Church. The Revs. Jim Matthews and Rodney Davis will officiate.
Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.
Pallbearers will be: Glen Godwin, Jeff Riley, Robert Scott, Tom Blevins, Phillip Blevins and Jimmy Kerber.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of the Morley Baptist Church.
