SIKESTON -- Tollie LeRoy Howard, 82, died at 2:50 a.m. June 30, 2006, at Clearview Nursing Center.
Born Oct. 24, 1923, in Lexington, Ala., son of the late Clarence M. and Bertha F. Putman Howard, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. A carpenter for the Sikeston Public Schools, he was a member of the Morley Memorial VFW Post 5368.
He was first married to Roy Jane Alleman, who survives of Cape Girardeau. On March 9, 1974, in Ann Arbor, Mich., he married Evelyn L. Jordan, who preceded him in death on Dec. 16, 2003.
One son, one daughter, two brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: six sons, Frankie Howard of Sturdivant, Terry Joe Howard of Vancleave, Miss., Glenn Howard of Brownwood, Lee Payne of Bloomfield, Tim Payne of Sikeston and Randy Payne of Chaffee; five daughters, Tanya Freed of Advance, Edra Snell of Saucier, Miss., Alethea Roper of Sikeston, Robin Hayes of Malden and Loretta Holland of Ypsilanti, Mich.; one brother, J.L. Howard of Bismark; four sisters, Sue Roper of Advance, Eloise Bell of Bellview, Venice Hickerson of DeSoto and Letha Alexander of Cape Girardeau; and 33 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Burial with full military rites conducted by the Missouri Military Funeral Honor Guard will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
