EAST PRAIRIE - Joe Bob Abernathy, 76, died at 12:15 p.m. April 7, 2005, at his residence in East Prairie.
Born Jan. 8, 1929, at Gideon to the late Ross and Marie Wilson Abernathy, he lived most of his life in East Prairie. A retired truck driver, he was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Air Force.
On Feb. 18, 1961, at East Prairie, he married Patsy Sue Phillips, who survives.
Other survivors include: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert Abernathy of Chicago, Rita Abernathy of Lamont, Ill., Rich Abernathy of Charleston and Tim and Natalie Abernathy of Crowley, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Jerry Vinson and LaVonda and Anthony Wallace of East Prairie; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
One brother, R.H. Abernathy, one sister, Earlene Hanson, and a great-
granddaughter preceded him in death.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday. Ted Wimberley will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Anniston Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Steve Blasingain, Doyle Wicker, Acie Myers, Ronnie Holder, Darly Cobb, David Fetters, Tony Russell and Lynn Casey.
