CHARLESTON - Albert R. "Doc" Laster, 69, formerly of Bertrand, died at 8 p.m. Sept. 11, 2005, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born January 12, 1936, in Charleston, son of the late Herman H. and Goldie Groves Laster. Having lived in Mississippi county most of his life, he was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Bertrand and was employed with Charleston R-I Schools and the Reliable Trucking Company until his retirement.
His wife, Elizabeth Maxine Allen Rockett, survives of the Charleston Manor.
Other survivors include: two stepsons, Danny Lynn Rockett of League City, Texas, and Michael Louis Rockett of Charleston; one brother, Julius Laster of Bertrand; four sisters, Ruby Wyatt of Troy, Ill., Ida E. Hunsperger of Warrenton, Rosetta Christian of St. Louis and Mary Martin of Cedar Hill; and three stepgrandchildren and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by one stepson, Jan Allen Rockett; one stepgranddaughter, Stephanie Lynne Rockett; three brothers, Marshall Laster, Joseph Laster and John Laster; and two sisters, Reba McClure and Joann Tinker.
Graveside services will are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, near Charleston, with the Rev. Charles Kohlbaker of Bertrand officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
