Sikeston Standard Democrat: High School Sports: Allen wins BassBuster tourney at Lake Barkley (06/01/05)

LAKE BARKLEY, Ky. -- The Bootheel BassBusters held their third tournament of the year on Lake Barkley out of Devil's Elbow ramp on May 22nd.

Mitch Allen won the tournament with five fish weighing 11lbs. 12 oz. Russ Jones was second and took big bass honors with one fish weighing 6 lbs. even. Kenny Dement was third with three fish weighing 5 lbs. 15 oz.

Shannon Garrett won the "Lucky Drawing."

Mitch Allen moved into the lead in the Angler-of-the-Year race with 430 points. Ty Garrett is second with 361 points and Mike Estes is third with 357 points.

The club travels to Kentucky Lake for a two day tournament on June 11th and 12th out of Buckhorn Marina.

Camaraderie and competition are the hallmarks of the BassBusters and owning a boat is not required for membership.
