Arrests solve string of local burglaries

Scott County sheriff deputies were able to recover much of the property taken in a series of residential burglaries.

BENTON - Three Scott County men were arrested following an investigation into a string of residential burglaries.

Timothy Ingram, 20, of Benton, Ronald Davidson, 20, of Oran, and Johnnie Smith, 20, of Sikeston were charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of stealing and three counts of property damage.

According to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter, several reports came in to the sheriff's office late Tuesday afternoon from victims who found their houses had been broken into while they were away. The suspects were arrested within 24 hours and most of the stolen property was retrieved.

As of press time, Ingram had bonded out, while Davidson and Smith remain in the Scott County Jail with bond set at $10,000 each.
