SIKESTON - David Jerome Mulcahy, 81, died Oct. 8 2005, at his residence in Sikeston.

Born Jan. 26, 1924, in Kennett, son of the late Paul and Dicie Lee Whitworth Mulcahy, he was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He graduated from Morehouse High School, attended Southeast Missouri State University and had been a pitcher for fast-pitch softball league. He had been on the City of Sikeston Police Force, a teacher for the Stoddard County School District, employed with the International Shoe Factory for 28 years and worked for 10 1/2 years before retiring with Potlatch.

On Sept. 23, 1944, he married Edna Florence Crowell, who survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: one son and daughter-in-law, David Owen and Billie Sue Mulcahy of Dexter; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lana and Robert E. Taylor of Sikeston, Marcia Ann Mulcahy of Cape Girardeau and Donna and Allen Reeves of Lebanon; one brother, William C. "Bud" Mulcahy of Sikeston; one sister, Beatrice Taylor of Gobler; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

One brother, Paul B. Mulcahy; and three sisters, Leota Taylor, Latrieve Fray and Marjorie Shipman, preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. William Marshall, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, the Rev. DeWayne Coleman, pastor of Canalou Baptist Church, and the Rev. Allen Reeves, pastor of Community Baptist Church of Lebanon, will be officiating.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
