Your view: The gift of life

Wednesday, October 5, 2005

Katrina greatly moved our hearts and we desperately longed to do something but didn't know what.

Many of you did do something that will impact a life time when you gave the best gift you could give - blood.

On behalf of the American Red Cross I would like to personally thank each and every donor who took time out of their busy schedules on September 22nd to give the gift of life.

Taking pride communitywide is what we see time and time again - when there is a need our town is there. Perhaps it wasn't possible for you to go to New Orleans or Houston, but you did what you could do where you were and that was saving a life. There is no greater humanitarian act and because of your sacrifice we are keeping the blood on the shelves to help those who need it each and everyday!

We live on the New Madrid fault, we are at risk, so helping our neighbors in time of need just may ensure the same grace for us.

Thanks to KSIM and the Standard Democrat for getting the word out. We appreciate Teresa at Domino's for supplying the food for the donors and supporting the American Red Cross!

Thanks to our volunteers give of there time with a smile to do what they can and last but not least our donors. You are the silent heroes that keep the life line pumping throughout America. May God bless you all.
