COLUMBIA -- The Poplar Bluff Mules whipped previously undefeated Vashon 72-56 to repeat as the Class 5 state champion.
The Mules, led by Tyler Hansbrough's game-high 29 points, shot a sizzling 60.5 percent from the field.
Poplar Bluff (27-4) also received double figure scoring from Ben Hansbrough with 17, Brad Chronister with 11 and Allan Spencer with 10.
An 18-8 third-quarter advantage keyed the Mules' victory.
Springfield Kickapoo defeated Kansas City Rockhurst 67-58 for third place.
WEST PLAINS -- Bell City kept its quest for a second straight state title on track with a 61-46 quarterfinal win over Eminence at the West Plains Civic Center on Saturday.
The Cubs advance to the semifinal round of the MSHSAA Class 1 Tournament against Jefferson on Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
PARK HILLS -- St. Vincent, the Class 2 football champion, is making a run at a basketball title as well.
The Indians eliminated South Pemiscot 57-56 in a quarterfinal matchup at Park Hills Central High School on Saturday.
St. Vincent faces East Buchanan in a semifinal on Friday at 4:30 p.m. at the Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
COLUMBIA -- The Cape Girardeau Notre Dame Bulldogs dropped its third-
place game 67-61 to Westminster Christian on Saturday.
O'Hara of Kansas City won the Class 4 championship with an 81-77 overtime win over Willard.
WEST PLAINS -- The Delta Lady Bobcats fell to Chadwick 45-29 in a quarterfinal at the West Plains Civic Center on Saturday.
PARK HILLS -- South Pemiscot's girls were eliminated in a 75-36 quarterfinal loss to Metro of St. Louis on Saturday at Park Hills Central High School.
FARMINGTON -- The young Doniphan Lady Dons were defeated by a veteran Hancock team 58-47 in a quarterfinal at the Farmington Civic Center on Saturday.
Hancock was also a state semifinalist in 2004.
