VAN BUREN - Sgt. Carl Dewayne Graham Jr., 37, died March 20, 2005, at his residence in Van Buren.
Born March 3, 1968, at St. Charles to Carl Graham Sr. of Dexter and Donna McGinley of Gideon, he was a 12-year-veteran of the Missouri State Highway Patrol where he served as Zone 4 commander, Troop G, and was a member of the First Baptist Church at Mountain Grove. He started his law enforcement career as a police officer cadet with the Dexter Police Department while in high school and was a member of the Perryville Police Department while completing his degree in criminal justice and law enforcement at Southeast Missouri State University. He was a full-time policeman with the Dexter Police Department from December 1990 through December 1992 when he was accepted into the Missouri State Highway Patrol Academy.
Surviving in addition to his parents are: one son, Hayden Beverly Graham of West Plains; his stepmother, Beverly Graham of Dexter; his fiancee, Cathy Crowley; his paternal grandmother, Virgie White of Dudley; his maternal grandparents, Ernie and Sue McGinley of Gideon; and one stepbrother, Robert McMullin of Dexter.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Dexter with the Revs. Gene Edwards and Denny McGinley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery.
