SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Hunter accompanied Boy Scouts Fred Stone, John Nickens, Joe Bacher and Ross Stowe, the latter of Matthews, to Camp Luwallen last Sunday.

40 years ago

LILBOURN - A $9,000 bond issue to construct a waterworks system was passed Saturday 17-0. Included in the area where the system will be put into operation are Lilbourn, Delmo, Howardville and the rural area between water sales to consumers.

20 years ago

SIKESTON - Approximately 20 people gathered at the City Municipal Building Thursday night to discuss the plans for a recreation complex with two pools and four racquetball courts. Members of the City Council, Steering Committee, Park Board Council and City Manager Bob Knabel were present to answer questions and hear opinions.

MINER - During Miner Nursing Center's 10th anniversary on July 28, Activities Director Mary Martin presented Administrator Melanie Lasater, Housekeeping Supervisor Lena Beavers and Helda McClung with roses and 10-year service pins.

SIKESTON - Members of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Women's Softball team are: Kathy Ray, Sheila Roach, Sue Garrett, Jackie Cowan, Kim Graviett, Kathy French, Vicki Shelby, Kim Kesler, Nancy Miles, Kristi Drake, Debbie Austin, Becky Slaten, Shelia Tennyson and Missy Marshall. Pam Hunter was the coach and Scott Pobst was the bat boy. The team recently took the first place trophy in their league tournament.
