SIKESTON - Myrtle D. Newton, 72, formerly of Morehouse, died at 4 p.m. Oct. 20, 2005, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston.
Born June 28, 1933, in Idalia, daughter of the late Clyde "Cotton" and Mary Farmer Babb, she was a housewife and had worked 10 years with Himmelberger-Harrison Mfg. Co. in Morehouse.
In 1950, in Piggott, Ark., she married Wayne Newton, who preceded her in death Dec. 30, 1999.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Ann Newton of Sikeston and Pat and Kathy Newton of Essex; one daughter and son-in-law, Tonna and Mike Vails of Morehouse; one sister, Mary Bouquot of Coolidge, Ariz.; four grandchildren and one spouse, Shannon and Tracey Newton of Sikeston, Chrissy Newton of Sikeston, Patrick Newton of Essex and Amanda Vails of Morehouse; three great-grandchildren, Alan Michael and Hunter Wayne Newton of Sikeston and Austin Jayson "AJ" Newton of Sikeston.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Essex Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Vester, pastor of the Old Bethel Baptist Church, officiating.
