CHARLESTON - Ann Elizabeth Wells Rockett, 53, died at 9:20 a.m. Feb. 16, 2005, at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Dec. 12, 1951, in Calico Rock, Ark., to Essie Hudson Wells of Calico Rock and the late Tom Wells, she was a 1969 graduate of Charleston High School and attended Bethel College in McKenzie, Tenn. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University where she earned a bachelor of science degree in special education and then received her master's degree in education in 1984. Since 1975, she taught students with learning disabilities in the Charleston R-1 School District. A member of the First Baptist Church in Charleston, she was also a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association, Community Teachers Association and the American Cancer Society. She was a strong supporter of Charleston recreational activities, especially the Charleston Swim Team and the Tennis Team.
On May 29, 1971, she married Michael L. Rockett, who survives of the home.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are: one son, Benjamin Wells Rockett of the home; and one daughter and son-in-law, Jodie and Jason Batchelor of Huntington, W.Va.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Charleston with the Rev. Keith Huffman, interim pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be Bob Graham, Greg Luehmann, Mike McIlroy, Brad Gaines, Ben Gremillion and Justin Gremillion.
Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Hoppe, Harold McClendon, Mike Grimes and Tom Graham.
