SIKESTON - New arrivals: Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Stark of Malden are the parents of a son born April 16 at the Sikeston General Hospital. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Chappell of Sikeston yesterday.
SIKESTON - The extension of Interstate Highway 55 south of Sikeston to New Madrid is now in the beginning stages according to General Superintendent L.S. Beuien of Springfield. The stretch is scheduled to be finished late this fall.
EAST PRAIRIE - The East Prairie 1985 Man and Woman of the Year were selected Thursday evening at the annual Chamber of Commerce banquet. Named Woman of the Year was Harriet Savell and Man of the Year is Jerry Burton, who received engraved plaques. The distinction of being the 1985 Honorary Couple of the Year was bestowed on Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Bogert, both active in business and community affairs in East Prairie for a number of years.

NEW MADRID - Officers of the Community Teachers Association for New Madrid County R-1 School District were elected Wednesday. They are Lynette Fowler, reporter; D.G. Gardner, president; Janey Jones, vice president; Kay Rebstock, treasurer; and Cindi Jones, secretary.
SIKESTON - The After Hours Care Center has opened at Missouri Delta Medical Center. "This service was greatly needed in this community. Many of our patients who visit the emergency room do not need the kind of care that we are set up to provide there. The After Hours Care Center will take care of those minor emergencies that people might have after their doctor's office has closed," said Charles Ancell, president of MDMC.
