Speakout 4/19

This is for the parents who let their teen-aged daughters dress up like hookers than drop them off the show or the bowling alley. What are you thinking?

The thing I don't understand about illegal dumpers is that most of the things that get thrown in the ditch are things that didn't have to be thrown in there. I mean washers and dryers, all the appliances can be taken to the junk yard behind Tetra-Pak. Most of the other items are wooden and things of that nature can be burned - couches, chairs, all that stuff can be burned and the scrapmetal that is left can be brought to the junkyard and you can get money for it. I don't understand why you cheap lazy people are taking what is essentially money and throwing it in a ditch. It is stupid not to mention that it is raising taxes by forcing the county to clean it up. Do you think you helping things by being lazy and throwing your stuff in a ditch? You are paying for it, we are all paying for it.

You have written several articles about holding government accountable for taxpayers' money. It is time for you to hold the city of Sikeston and Doug Friend and the city councilmembers for the misappropriation of Homeland Security grant money. I maybe can see the justification for a fence at the airport. I cannot, however, see how taking Homeland Security money and putting up a white decorative fence at the golf course and Rotary Park is spending the money wisely. How is that paid out of the Homeland Security grant money? It is time for you to step up to the plate, Mike. Write another article making all Sikeston taxpayers aware of how our Homeland Security grant money is being wasted.

As a relatively new member of the community and a parent I felt that I needed some questions cleared up and or brought into view of the public. For the last three years my child has auditioned for the local community theatre's children's show. Although my child is not as outgoing as some, I do encourage her to participate as we consider it a very good learning experience to expose her to many different activities. I just wanted to know if the theatre has a normal practice of casting the same people in the lead roles all the time...or is it meant to be a learning experience for all the children and adults, for that matter, in general. If a learning experience is intended, then wouldn't it be beneficial for the child and the theatre itself to give each child a chance, within reason to expand their abilities with larger roles.

To the lady who wanted a basketball goal for her grandson. I have one and it will be free. You can contact me at 471-8644, extension 13.

I am so sick of the people putting people down for being on Medicaid. I used to be young and worked all my life. Now I'm in my late 70s and my husband is in his 80s. We are both in really bad health. So he can't work and I can't work and I don't wear leather coats or rings and we draw less than $900 a month so try to figure how to pay utility bills and buy food on that. Walk in someone else's shoes to see how other people have to live. I wish I could work. As far as Blunt, someday he may get old and crippled and then he can see what he has done to the poor and old people of Missouri. But he is in hog-heaven now being a big boss over other people's lives.

I'm beginning to think George Bush is as bad as Bill Clinton. I know he went to the Pope's funeral and took his wife with him. But, why did he take Rice? It looked pretty strange to me. Her and Bill Clinton looked pretty chummy though. I can't figure out why he took Bill Clinton. He is not the president anymore. Why didn't he take his father if he wanted to take another ex-

president? I think that is why Jimmy Carter backed out because he didn't like the looks of who was going - Bill Clinton and Condelezza Rice. I don't see that all. I'm beginning to think George isn't as holy and Christian as everyone thought he was.
