EAST PRAIRIE -- Lily Helen Jackson "Granny" Cornwell, 87, died Oct. 20, 2005, at her home.
Born May 26, 1918, in Perkins, daughter of the late Monroe and Rhoda E. Trout Jackson, she lived most of her life in East Prairie, where she was a member of the St. James General Baptist Church. Granny as she was affectionately called by many whose lives she had touched enjoyed reading puzzles and sharing with you everyday experiences.
On Dec. 7, 1936, she married Raymond Cornwell who preceded her in death on March 27, 1988.
Also preceding her in death were one son, Larry Gene Cornwell; one brother, Joe Jackson; one sister, Ethel Dodge; and two grandchildren.
She made her home with her granddaughter, Donna Jo Wolford, and her husband and great-grandson, Clifton Wolford and Clinton Lynn Cornwell Wolford of East Prairie.
Other survivors include: one son, Shirley Raymond Cornwell of East Prairie; four daughters, Donna Joyce Munoz of Lakewood, Calif., Joan Burdell of Long Beach, Calif., Fostine Fischer of Bell Flower, Calif., and Helen Fern Easley of East Prairie; and 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie with the Rev. David Dowdy of St. James Baptist Church officiating assisted by the Rev. George White, pastor of the First Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roger Scott, Steve Douglas, Ryan Poyner, Kyle Everett, Chase Cogdill, Earl Sisk and Clinton Wolford.
