SIKESTON - Mrs. H.M. Kending and Miss Myra Tanner entertained friends with a breakfast at the Dunn Hotel yesterday morning. Later a party was enjoyed at the home of Miss Tanner on North Kingshighway.

SIKESTON - Lewis Furniture galloped to a victory over the Legion nine with a score of 8-5 in the National League at Puckett Field last night. The bout was the only game played.

SIKESTON - Several Sikeston area residents were involved in the peaceful demonstration Wednesday at the Women's Health Center of Cape Girardeau. Although about 20 residents of Scott and Mississippi counties were reportedly present for the protest, three Sikeston residents and one Charleston woman were among the eight arrested for staging a sit-in inside the clinic, which performs abortions.

SIKESTON - Attending the Jaycee National Convention in June, the Sikeston Jaycees were honored for the Bootheel Rodeo the club conducts each year. They received the Chapter Management Award for having the best organized and financially successful project among Jaycee chapters nationwide. The award was presented at the national convention conducted in St. Louis.
