WEST MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Eugene "Gene" Lee Rudd, 73, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died July 8, 2005.
Born March 26, 1932, in Marshall, Mo., son of the late Forest L. and Lottie Rudd, he was a U.S. Army veteran and a 1950 graduate of Sikeston High School, where he was an all-conference football player, lettered in basketball and baseball and was the holder of the school shot put record in track for several years. In college, he started at Southeast Missouri State University his freshman year and also played football at Tulsa University and the University of Missouri at Columbia, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. A member of the First United Methodist Church of West Memphis, he was a retired mortgage banker and a part-time librarian for Mid South Community College.
His wife, Mary Sue Graham Rudd, survives of West Memphis.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Tamara Lea Rogers of West Memphis; one son, Eugene Lee Rudd II of Memphis; one brother, Donald W. "Duke" Rudd of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; and three grandchildren.
Burial was held at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Ark.
Pallbearers were: Bill Weaver, Jimmy Baker, Gerald Sutton, Jack Hogan, Rex Rogers and Wylie Tate.
