CAPE GIRARDEAU - Herbert "Shaw" Hale, 92, died at 10:55 p.m. April 24, 2005, at the Heartland Care and Rehab in Cape Girardeau.
Born Feb. 5, 1913, in Charleston to the late Dines and Nellie Pickens Hale, he was a retired motor grader operator having worked 35 years with the State Highway Department at Morley. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Red Star Baptist Church at Cape Girardeau.
On Feb. 5, 1935, he married Cassie Andrews of Cape Girardeau who survives.
Also surviving are: two sons, Larry Hale and Paul Hale of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Sue Sherry of Collinsville, Ill., and Kathie Crader of Bald Knob, Ark.; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Cy Smith will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley with full military rites.
Pallbearers will be Jason Crader, Travis Crader, Brett Hale, Joseph Hamilton, Michael Hale, Ronald Sherry and Jon Paul Sherry.
