BERTRAND - Lawrence David "Larry" Heckert, 84, died June 29, 2005, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Jackson.
Born April 21, 1921, in Bertrand, son of the late Doyle and Cecil Meeks Heckert, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a self-employed carpenter and had been a Church of God minister for over 50 years.
On Oct. 17, 1942, he married Irene Pulliam who preceded him in death on Sept. 26, 1991.
On Feb. 13, 1993, he married Bonnie Hill who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Debi Hoerl of Overland Park, Kan., one foster son, Linn Rogers of Alpharetta, Ga.; three stepsons, Tim Hill of Great Falls, Mont., Jeff Hill of Benton and Mike Hill of Bertrand; two stepdaughters, Shari Lackey of Des Moines, Iowa, and Lori Blankenship of Sikeston; one brother, Billy Heckert of Sikeston; one sister, Bertha Sweet of Sikeston; and four grandchildren.
One daughter, Nancy Hutchings, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from noon today until time for services at 1 p.m. at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston with the Rev. Dwight Lackey, pastor of Berean Assembly of God, and the Rev. Blake Tieman, pastor of Sikeston Family First, officiating.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Lenexa Cemetery in Lenexa, Kan.
