Sharks compete

JACKSON - The Sikeston Sharks Swim team placed third at the Jackson Swim Meet, Saturday at Jackson. The meet included 194 Swimmers from Cape Girardeau, Farmington, Jackson and Sikeston.

Mary Anne Kendig had three first place finishes in the 11 and 12 year old 50-

meter breaststroke, 100-meter freestyle and 200-meter individual medley.

Mary Liz Klueppel placed first in the 7 and 8 year old 25-meter freestyle, and 25-meter breaststroke and second in the 100-meter individual medley.

Second place finishers included Gratten Allen in the 13-14 year old boys 100-meter backstroke, Mitchell Garner in the 7-8 year old boys 25-meter breaststroke, Anna Kate Klueppel in the 6 and under girls 25-meter butterfly, Ryan Long in the 11-12 boys 50-meter breaststroke, Aidan Marshall in the 15-18 year old girls 100-meter breaststroke, Jake Pewitt in the 13-14 year old boys 100 meter butterfly, and Madeline Urhahn in the 6 and under girls 25 meter freestyle.

Third place finishers included Amanda Allen, in the 11-12 girls 50-meter breaststroke, Will Bloemer in the 7-8 boys 50-meter freestyle, Cassidy Jackovic in the 7-8 year old girls 25-meter breaststroke, Jake Pewitt in the 13-14 boys 100-meter breaststroke and 200-meter individual medley, Jessica Pierce in the 15-18 girls 100-meter breast stroke, and Madeline Urhahn in the 25-meter breast stroke.

Alexandra Merrill, who is only 4, placed third in the 6 and under, 25-meter butterfly.

The Sharks travel to Dexter this Saturday, June 18, to take on Dexter, Poplar Bluff, Scott City and a strong Kennett team. The Sharks will also be competing in a Relay-Only meet at Charleston on June 20.
