Born Jan. 26, 1935, in Arkansas, he was the son of the late Ophalia Key and Robert McWhirter.
He married Jerrie Fay who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Jeffery McWhirter of House Springs; one daughter, Georgette McWhirter of House Springs; and one brother, Jimmy McWhirter of Melvern, Ark.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were two brothers, Billy McWhirter and Bobby McWhirter; and one sister, Mavis Miller.
Visitation is at 4 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Clarence Hayes will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
