PORTAGEVILLE - Dr. Tom (Joe) Jennings Jr., 63, died June 17, 2005, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born May 20, 1942, in Portageville to Tom Jennings Sr. of Howardville and the late Ozia Rowe Jennings, he earned a Bachelor of Science in zoology at Northeast Missouri State University at Kirksville and a Bachelor of Science in animal science and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. After working 30 years as a veterinary medical officer of the meat and poultry inspection program of the United States Department of Agriculture in Green Bay, Wis., he returned to Missouri and began his practice of veterinary medicine with Dr. David Morris at the Delta Veterinary Clinic in Sikeston.
On Jan. 1, 2001, he married Regina Grant, who survives of the home. The couple reaffirmed their marriage vows on June 23, 2001, in Portageville.
In addition to his wife and father he is survived by one son and daughter-in-
law, Tommy and Melissa Jennings of Green Bay; three daughters and a son-
in-law, Cyndean Jennings of Kenosha, Wis., Annie Grant of Springfield and Tanya and Jake Keenan of Milwaukee; five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Ozia and Flem Bronner, Ann and James Smith, Beatrice Liddell and Marguerite and James Stanton of St. Louis and Viola and Roy Jackson of Howardville; and six grandchildren, Tylar Grant, Taylar Grant, Tammy Jennings, Kasheah Jennings, Olivia Keenan and Janessa Keenan.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joanne Jennings; one brother, Dr. Lester Jennings; four sisters, Velma Bailey, Minnie Carter, Lillie Jennings and Betty Sue Mason; and one brother-in-law, Edward Liddell.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the DeLisle Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Temple of God Glory with the Rev. Reginald Grant officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mason Cemetery at Conran.
