Dorris Payne

WARDELL - Dorris Odell Payne, 72, died May 21, 2006, at his home.

Born Oct. 4, 1933, in Pemiscot County, son of the late Lorenzo and Cecil Rone Payne, he was a heavy equipment operator and a member of the Operating Engineers Local 513 before retiring in 1996, and a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War.

In 1957, he married Katherine Pauline Eifert, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Steven Payne of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Sharon Crispin of Ypsilanti, Mich., Diane Wright of Lee's Summit and Robin Borgfield of Cape Girardeau; one brother, George Payne of Jefferson City; five grandchildren, Dustin Cauble, Rachel Cauble, Amy Wright, Amber Borgfield and Ryan Borgfield; two great-grandchildren, Leah Cauble and Seth Cauble; and three nephews and one niece.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Burial with full military rites will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
