BENTON -- The Sikeston/Miner Convention Visitors Bureau has been officially recognized.

During the Scott County Commissioner's meeting Thursday, commissioners approved a resolution which designated and recognized the organization to solicit and service tourism in Scott County for participation in the Missouri Division of Tourism's Cooperative Marketing program.

"They have asked for all communities applying for grants to designate one organization per county to apply," said Commissioner Dennis Ziegenhorn.

Also during the meeting, state Sen. Jason Crowell informed commissioners of changes that may come to jail reimbursements. He and other elected officials will look into being able to allot more funds next year for jails that house state prisoners.

Board members for the Law Enforcement Restitution Fund also met. They approved the following expenditures:

* $2,417.41 to match the ICCG grant to fund the Scott County Computer Forensic and Investigative Initiative

* $5,919 to cover expenses for adequate furnishings for the Computer Forensic and Online investigative Initiative

* $3,600 to cover one year of annual subscription expense for satellite phones, purchased through an interoperability grant.
