Sunday, March 19, 2006

CARLINVILLE, Ill. - Prairie Farms Dairy Inc. has acquired Covington, Tenn.,- based Turner Dairy Holdings LLC effective March.

Turner Dairies, one of the largest independent dairies in the Southeastern United States, includes plant operations in Fulton, Ky.; Covington, Tenn.; Memphis Tenn.; and Little Rock, Ark. Turner Dairies has a distribution facility located on County Line Road in Sikeston.

In announcing the acquisition agreement, Prairie Farms Executive Vice President and CEO Roger Capps said: "We are pleased to welcome Turner Dairies to the Prairie Farms Dairy family. This corporate addition fits well with Prairie Farms for two important reasons: Like Prairie Farms, Turner Dairies share a tradition of producing high quality dairy products; and strategically, Turner's product distribution area is contiguous with both the Prairie Farms sales area east of the Mississippi River, as well as to the south of our joint venture partner, Hiland Dairy, based in Springfield, Missouri."

Officials with Prairie Farms indicated this week that no changes were expected in local operations.

Prairie Farms CEO Roger Capps added: "We appreciate having Steve and Jim Turner's assurance to remain in their management roles along with the Turner management team. As with previous dairy acquisitions, Prairie Farms is confident of the team already in place, and we offer our support as needed for continued success. Steve and Jim have indicated they expect no disruption in current employee work force levels."

Prairie Farms Dairy Inc. is headquartered in Carlinville.
