Born May 28, 1926, in Essex, Mo., to the late Cecil and Belma Whiteside, he was employed by Inland Container for 25 years, he also worked for five years, as a mechanic at Charlie's Gulf Station at Boeke and Riverside Drive. He was a lifetime member of Vann Avenue Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Pansy A. Whiteside; six brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include: four daughters, Doloris "Dee" Spalding, Delora Lancaster and Amy Kendle of Evansville and Linda Schile of Newburgh, Ind.; two sisters, Ruth Hice of London, Ark., and Emma McCoy of Sikeston, Mo.; two brothers, Charles Whiteside of California and Oren Whiteside of Sikeston; and six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Alexander Funera Home's East Chapel in Evansville where services are scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Robert A. Nall will officiate.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
