Speakout 7/17

I'm calling about punishment and the comment, "Police's fault." I want to say that it is easy for the people who live uptown to say the people who live on the west end of town need to be punished cause they are not living on the west end of town. People on the west end of town don't harass people for no reason. It starts with one another disliking each other, just ends up arguing. So eventually it becomes the police's fault when the police try to control the west end of town. People have to walk in a straight lines like in slavery, and yelling and cursing the people in the west end of town, bringing the K-9, trying to run people away because they hate to see them doing something positive. So police tear down places and close down places that the people hang out in. The police hate to see the people on the west end of town having fun. That is why everyone uptown get away with selling drugs, robbing places and people on the west end of town are caught.

I live in the city limits of New Madrid, Missouri. I wonder if there is an ordinance against four-wheeler riding. These kids and all aren't obeying the speed limit. I got passed and I was doing 30 miles per hour and two kids passed my on four-wheelers without helmets. I just wonder if you would ask the city administrator or the chief of police what the ordinance is and if they are suppose to be obeying the speed limit. These are kids who don't look older then 10 or 12 years old and they are all over the place. Please post the ordinance on four-wheelers in the city of New Madrid.

From Heckemeyer Acres over on Matt Street. This is to the person who keeps on backing into our fence, not just once but four different times. We are sick and tired of paying for your damages. Learn how to drive and back up. You have no respect for other people's property. If you have a problem with us then come on over instead of being a coward and hitting the fence.

I would like to speak out on police officers. It is believed that police officers should be respected. It is also believed they should respect. The public should be able to look to the police to serve and protect all citizens. The property rights of citizens in their homes and on the phones are legally protected. Harassment and the right to travel any where is protected. Any abuse is protected from our citizens. Since it is so difficult to file a complaint against a police officer, civilian complaint boards needs to be established in small cities such as Charleston which would give citizens a fair chance to issue a complaint on a police officer and receive an honest action needed to correct any abuse within the department. It is hoped that the city council would become more aware of the concerns and issues of the citizens of Charleston and that they keep an eye and an ear open to the protected rights of the citizens.
