DEXTER - Marie Clara Hankins, 92, formerly of Portageville, died July 1, 2006, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.

Born May 26, 1914, in Louisville, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Van and Clara Cornathan White.

On Oct. 1, 1933, in Portageville, she was united in marriage to Melvin Curtis Hankins, who preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1988.

One daughter, Iregga Clemons; four brothers, Albert Ray White (infant), Van White, Johnny White and Forest White; and five sisters, Fanny White (infant), Lena Liver, Christin Sams, Mary Bittle and Velma Bice also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: four sons, Melvin A. Hankins and Jessie Hankins of Orland Park, Ill., Robert Hankins of Malden and C.C. Hankins of Wardell; four daughters, Imogene Canoy of Chesterville, Mary Widitz and Florence Wyatt of St. Louis and Shelia Sprouse of Fort Myers, Fla.; three sisters, Beatrice Sipes of Kansas City, Jessie Pullum of Essex and Laverne Whitener of St. Louis; 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-

grandchildren.

Visitation is at 5 p.m. today at the DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Assembly of God Church in Portageville. The Rev. Eugene Poole will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
