MALDEN - Arvel Newton Gough, 88, died April 15, 2005, at the Malden Nursing Center.
Born June 2, 1916, at Dexter, son of the late William A. and Addie Gillis Gough, he was a member of the White Oak Grove General Baptist Church of rural Bernie. He farmed before working at the Bernie Public Schools as a custodian until his retirement.
In 1941, he married Eva Kilbreath, who preceded him in death.
On July 17, 1965, he married Edith Eva Foust, who preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 1997.
He was also preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Marie Collins, and one sister, Helen Gough.
Survivors include: one son, Harold Gough of Malden; one stepson, Melvin B. Gage of Tightwad; one stepson-in-law, Jerry Collins of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Marvin Gough of Flint, Mich., and by nine grandchildren, 12 great-
grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie with the Rev. Bill Pennington officiating.
Burial will follow in the Smith-Stevenson Cemetery near Dexter.
