Business reopens for Christmas season

Sunday, October 9, 2005

COMMERCE - The Yule Log Cabin is once again open for business offering even more Christmas decorations.

The Yule Log Cabin will be open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. everyday except Christmas until Dec. 31.

"We're even open Thanksgiving day," said owner Joannie Smith. "After they eat their turkey dinner, they're looking for something to do - especially the women while the guys are watching football."

While some of the fine ornaments and decorations are suitable for other times of the year, most of the items are orientated toward Christmas.

"In the barn we have six big Christmas trees - 9 and 10 foot trees," Smith said. Each features a different theme ranging from dogs to cowboys, from Halloween to "old time Christmas."

"Inside the Cabin we have one room that we call 'The Enchanted Forest' and then another room that is all candy and food ornaments," Smith said.

Whatever catches your eye, be it the snowmen or "baby's first Christmas," everything on display is for sale, said Smith. "Take it off and buy it - we encourage them to undecorate the trees," she said.

The Yule Log Cabin also carries Yankee brand candles. "They're the best," Smith said. "They burn the longest and the scents go all the way through."

The Yule Log Cabin will also bring in Frasier Firs and Balsam Firs for Christmas trees and fresh wreaths just before Thanksgiving.
