Austin Pounds

BLOOMFIELD -- Austin Pounds, 16, died March 28, 2005, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Brownwood.

Born March 9, 1989, at Poplar Bluff, son of Phil Pounds of Dexter and Joy Thurman Dowell of Bloomfield, he was a sophomore at Bloomfield High School where he was a class officer and a member of the Bloomfield Wildcats baseball team, FBLA, Beta Club and student council. He had lived all his life in Bloomfield.

In addition to his parents, survivors include: his stepmother, Shelia Pounds of Dexter; his stepfather, Matt Dowell of Bloomfield; two brothers, Zach Pounds and Evan Dowell of Bloomfield; two stepbrothers, Jeremy Snider and Jake Cox of Dexter; two stepsisters, Kimberly Snider and Savannah Snider of Dexter; his maternal grandparents, Gene Thurman of Clinton and Mary Thurman of Bloomfield; and his maternal great-grandmother, Beauton Thurman of Harvell.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will follow in the North Antioch Cemetery.
