SIKESTON - The Scott County Commission recently informed Missouri Delta Medical Center that it will be discontinuing its ambulance program Jan. 1, 1987, due to withdrawal of federal revenue sharing funds. Lewis Conley, petition chairman, and Steve Sikes, board member of the ambulance committee, said Tuesday morning that the future of ambulance service in southern Scott county is therefore uncertain at this time.

SIKESTON - A newly formed Missouri Cotton Growers Organization Board of Directors will work to unite cotton growers to pass a referendum to eradicate the boll weevil. If successful, the Missouri Department of Agriculture will be responsible for collecting and disbursing the funds and monitoring the eradication program. If a referendum is passed, spraying would have to occur once a week and on everyone's cotton crop," said board member, John Hux Jr.
