SIKESTON - Sikeston Department of Public Safety detectives recovered stolen property Thursday and a suspect was arrested. The property, valued at between $10,000 and $12,000, included 31 rifles and shotguns, an electric guitar, amplifier, color television set and a banjo. The subject was discovered when he attempted to sell several stolen guns to a dealer in Sikeston. Inspecting the recovered guns were Mark Crocker, Bill Smith, Robert Gee, Dan Armour and DPS Director, Dan Hinton.
SIKESTON - The Sikeston Junior High cheerleaders brought home a state championship in their division. Also placing at the state competition were the East Prairie cheerleaders.

WYATT - The prospect of a gaming boat for the city of Wyatt has renewed the optimism of Mayor Riley Fitzgerald and the town board, who have worked about eight months toward securing a boat. Royal Casino Group and the city have signed a definitive 25 year docking and franchise agreement. The agreement contains five additional five year renewal periods at Royal's option and exclusive rights to develop and operate a riverboat casino and entertainment center on Wyatt's Mississippi riverfront.
